Joan Sabate, MD, DrPH

Sigve Tonstad, MD, PhD

Dr. Sigve Tonstad is from Norway and is currently an internist in the Department of Medicine and Assistant Professor of Religion at Loma Linda University. He received his MD from LLU School of Medicine and his PhD from the University of St. Andrews in Scotland, founded in 1410. He has also studied at Middle East College in Beirut, Andrews University, and Duke University. He was a pastor, evangelist, and teacher in Oslo, Norway. Dr. Hart is the President and CEO of Loma Linda University. He has also served LLU as Chair of the Department of Health Sciences, Director of the Center for Health Promotion, Chair of the School of Medicine Department of Preventive Medicine, Dean of the School of Public Health, and Chancellor and CEO. He was the first student missionary from the Adventist church to serve outside North America. He and his family later served in Tanzania for 5 years. As an intern from Johns Hopkins School of Public Health, he developed the department of community health in Moshi and co-authored Child Health for midlevel health professionals in Africa. Randy Roberts, DMin

Dr. Roberts was born in South America of missionary parents where he spent the majority of his early life. He has served as pastor in the Texas conference, chaplain at the Loma Linda University Medical Center, and was instrumental in establishing and leading the Center’s grief recovery program. He is a licensed marriage and family therapist and has also served as the Associate Dean for the Faculty of Religion at LLU. Richard A. Schaefer, University Historian
Title: Legacy, The Heritage of the Adventist Health Message
Mr. Schaefer is currently the president of the Loma Linda Chamber of Commerce and has been the historian for Loma Linda University Adventist Health Sciences Center for the past eight years. He has found evidence of Providence that no other historian has found including evidence that even John Burden and Ellen G. White could not have known in their time. This summer began his 44th year of employment at Loma Linda University and Medical Center. Most of that time he was the director of Community Relations for the Medical Center. Harold Burden, MDiv, MPH

Pastor Harold has been the chairperson of the Adventist CHIP Association since its founding in December of 2000. He was a pastor in Wyoming and then a missionary in South America for 10 years—Lake Titicaca, Peru & Medellin, Colombia. After 25 years as hospital health educator at Portland Adventist Medical Center in Oregon, he “retired” and became a full-time CHIP volunteer. Lily Diehl, DMA

Dr. Lily Diehl, wife of Dr. Hans Diehl, is a concert pianist and recording artist. For over 25 years she has had one of the largest and most successful music studios in Southern California, using the “Triangle of Success” that involves the parents, student, and teacher in the learning process. Her students consistently place high in piano competitions. Even though she had three graduate degrees and a secure university position, she took the risk of stepping out on her own and starting a private studio because she has found greater satisfaction in working with young and promising students. Cheri Carrick, MBA

Ms. Carrick grew up near Spivey, Kansas and has been playing since she was just five years of age.
